Thank you for your interest in Storm Haven Recovery Home.
Storm Haven is a Sober Living Home (SLH) capable of housing about 20 men at one time. New residents are expected to produce at least $150 prior to, or upon, arrival. This amount includes the first month’s rent ($150/month during the two month ‘evaluation’ period). Rent will be $300/month thereafter.
Rent covers a bed, access to shared community facilities (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, rec rooms, exercise room) and basic utilities (gas, electricity, house phone). At this time there is no cable TV available, but we do offer limited internet privileges, which currently includes streaming movies in the common area. Residents are required to participate in house chores, such as cooking group meals and must contribute financially to group meals and expenses (such as cleaning supplies).
ALL residents must maintain gainful employment outside the House. Residents who have a source of income that does not require employment (such as Social Security, Disability, Veteran’s Benefits, etc) are required to find and engage in meaningful volunteer work outside the home several days a week.
New residents are placed in ‘evaluation’ status. During the ‘evaluation’ period, residents share a bunk room with up to three other men. If paid in full, after the first two months, residents may move into a double occupancy room for $300/month. There is the opportunity to move up to a single occupancy room for long term residents, at a higher rent, as space allows. Once a resident graduates from Evaluation status, there is no limitation to the length of stay at Storm Haven, as long as the Resident is current on rent and follows the House Rules.
Storm Haven is specifically for addicts who are serious about recovery. Regular 12-step meetings and House Group meetings are required and a sober living environment is strictly enforced. There is a zero tolerance policy toward drug and alcohol use and residents are tested regularly at random intervals with no warning. Candidates MUST have been clean and sober for at least 30-days to be accepted into Storm Haven.
Storm Haven is not a ‘treatment facility’ and does not have the resources to care for people with serious physical or mental health conditions. Residents MUST be capable of walking for several miles and be able to handle stairs without assistance. Prescription medications must be revealed during the application process and narcotics are strictly prohibited.
